How to Use ECG on Samsung Watch

If you want to use ECG on the Samsung Galaxy Watch, you need to install Samsung Monitor App. Then you will need to register the profile to sync health information across the Samsung Peripherals. Here is how you can do so.

For Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 And Galaxy Watch5

  1. Access the Galaxy Store App on the connected Phone.
  2. Select Magnifying Glass at the top right corner.
  3. Within the search box, enter Samsung Health Monitor.
  4. Select Install Option.
  5. Once the installation procedure finishes, navigate to the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 or Galaxy Watch5 and scroll up to feature the app list.
  6. Select ECG Icon. From the screen, select Allow for further access to the Sensor Data.
  7. From the connected Phone, access the Samsung Health Monitor. Choose Access to begin the procedure.
  8. Right from the top pop-screen, enable the toggle next to All Permissions.
  9. Hit Done. If asked, enter all the required fields within Create Your Profile. Choose the Get Started Button.

You will be navigated to the series of screens in the Samsung Health Monitor App. This screen offers an in-depth overview of how ECG App on the Samsung Watch works. Moreover, it will offer various potential results, ranging from Rhythm and Sinus to Poor Recording. 

Now, after you configure the ECG on the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch4 with the connected smartphone. The result starts recording.

  1. Open the Samsung Health Monitor app on the Watch.
  2. First, make sure the Watch snugly fits on a hand.
  3. Rest the arms on the table. Lightly place your Fingertip on the Home Button for 20-30 Seconds. 

And as soon as you do so, the recording on the Samsung Watch will begin. You will receive a prompt with the App Never Looks For Heart Attack message. On the same screen, will inform you of the remaining time along with bpm(Beats Per Minute)

Once the testing procedure finishes, your watch will display the result, together with “The App Never Looks For Sign Of A Heart Attack.” Moreover, swipe at the bottom, and you will encounter the Average HR and Symptoms Section. If you want to add symptoms unlike; Dizziness, Fatigue, Shortness Of Breath, etc., choose Add Button. Choose the sign and then choose Save Button. For Samsung Galaxy Watch3 And Galaxy Active Watch2

  1. Go to Galaxy Store, and select the Magnifying glass at the top right corner.
  2. Now search for the Samsung Health Monitor App, swipe down, and select Install. Tap on Open. 
  3. From the prompt, select Accept.
  4. Create the Profile. Once you do so, swipe from the bottom to begin.
  5. Select ECG > Get Started.
  6. Read the on-screen instructions and choose Next.
  7. Within You May One These Result, there are four options available Sinus Rhythm, Atrial Fibrillation, Inconclusive, and Poor Recording. Read each one carefully. Select any one and choose Next. Once again, read the information and choose Next.
  8. You will receive the prompt asking, “On Which Wrist Do You Wear Your Samsung Watch.” Select either Left or Right. For further confirmation, choose Next.
  9. Lastly, Done. Ensure the Watch is snug to the option you have selected before. 
  10. Navigate to the connected Watch, and from the watch screen, swipe down and choose OK. Now rest the finger on the opposite hand and hold it for 30 Seconds. And then, confirm your ECG reading by swiping and hitting Done.

View Your ECG Results From The Samsung Galaxy Watch

The recording from the ECG waveform is saved within the application. Here is how you can view and share health information.

  1. Open the Samsung Health Monitor App on the connected smartphone.
  2. Now tap the See Details button next to the most recent ECG Reading in the top right corner. Alternatively, you can tap on View History. Select the one at the top of the list. 

From this screen, you can take an overview of the complete reading of when lastly ECG was recorded. Similarly, if you have added any additional symptoms, this will be beneath the ECG graph. To clear out, tap on the Delete Button. 

Getting More Accurate ECG Readings

For more accurate measurements, follow some of the instructions below. 

  1. Before taking a measurement, remain still and don’t move around or talk while sitting on waist backed chair.
  2. Keep the leg flat by completely neglecting the cross leg during the measurement.
  3. Ignore talking, moving, and yawning during measurements.
  4. Ensure cleaning the sensor, and Watch should fit your wrist.
  5. The watch strap should be comfortable, and it should not be loose.

Things You Should Know

  1. Ignore using the feature while experiencing shortness of breath, chest pain, or fainting. 
  2. Never use ECG App if implanted cardiac, pacemaker, defibrillator, or another electronic device.
  3. It never alerts for Heart Attack, Arrhythmia rather than Atrial Fibrillation, Blood Pressure, Congestive Heart Failure, High Cholesterol, Blood Clots, or Stroke.
