The Samsung keyboard can also be glide typed, allowing one to type a word quickly compared to tapping the letter individually. Although the feature can be quite useful, many Samsung flagship users recently complained the Samsung swipe keyboard not working on their phone or Tab. 1. Ensure Swipe Keyboard is enabled
The swipe to type on the Samsung phone and Tab won’t work if the feature is turned off. To verify it, follow the steps below.
- Go to Settings.
- Select General Management > Samsung Keyboard Settings.
- Select Swipe, touch, and Feedback> Keyboard Swipe Control > Swipe to type.
2. Restart Your Device
It might sound petty, but we often forget the importance of giving a fresh start. The culprit might be a software or app bug, overheating, or insufficient storage space. Restarting your Samsung device will fix all the possible culprits. For this, press and hold the Power Button and then tap on Green Restart Option.
3. Force Stop Samsung Keyboard
- Go to the Settings App.
- Select Apps.
- Now, tap on the Three Vertical Line > enable the toggle next Show System Apps.
- Further, search and select Samsung Keyboard and tap Force Stop.
4. Clear Keyboard Cache
Using the Samsung keyboard for a longer duration will accumulate much cache, which over time gets corrupted. Thus, I recommend clearing the Samsung Keyboard Cache by following the steps below.
- Go to the Settings App.
- Select Apps.
- Now, tap on the Three Vertical Line > enable the toggle next Show System Apps.
- Further, search and select Samsung Keyboard and tap Storage > Clear Cache.
5. Check for Software Updates
Often bugs and glitches within the OS prevent the feature from working normally. If you think that is the cause, follow the steps below to check if a new update is available. Here’s how you can do it.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Software Update > Download & Install. Now, let the system check for updates. If available, select Install Now.
6. Perform a factory reset
If the mentioned solution doesn’t, you can perform a factory reset on your Samsung. This will revert your device to default settings.

- Choose General Management.
- Tap Reset.
