One of the most commonly faced problems of Android phones, especially on Samsung devices, is sometimes, notifications stopped working. Although it’s hard to track down the root cause behind the problem, why are Notifications not working on Samsung Note 20 Ultra? Forget the reason, we’ll directly proceed with the solutions, that will most likely kill the notifications-related issues once and for all. Often, putting apps to sleep or enabling the battery optimization stops major background processes which may affect the notifications too.
This tutorial will show you the basic steps to override the notifications not working problem.
Fix Samsung Note 20 Ultra Notifications Not Working
Must Disable Clean Master and Antivirus
One of the Samsung users has suggested disabling the Antivirus, as sometimes, the antivirus could block the notifications of the app.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Apps.
- Tap on three dots on the upper-right corner.
- Select Special access.
- Hit Notification access.
- Disable Clean Master and antivirus.
Disable Battery Optimization for Applications
Battery Optimization is one obliging feature to improve the battery life of the device, by controlling battery usage per individual app. However, if you are experiencing notification issues with Snapchat, WhatsApp, or any particular app, then make sure the battery optimization is disabled for that app.
- Go to the Settings app on your phone.
- Tap Apps.
- On the top-right corner, hit the three-dots.
- Tap on Special access.
- Select Optimize battery usage.
- Tap on Apps not optimized and choose All.
- Make sure the battery optimization is disabled for the app, on which you’re not receiving notifications.
Turn Off Adaptive Battery
Adaptive Battery is a smart feature that tracks your habits of using the apps and device, and also it put the apps to sleep when they are not used for a long time.
- Navigate to the Settings
- Tap on Device care.
- Select Battery.
- Tap the three-dot menu, and go to Settings.
- Turn Off the Adaptive battery.
Make sure DND is Disabled
Most users tend to enable the DND mode at night or while they are in meeting to avoid disturbance, caused by alerts and ringtones. However, while turning on DND, you might have noticed three options: Until I turn off, 1 hour, and Ask every time.
- Pull down the Notification panel and tap on the Do not disturb button and disable it.
Check the List of Sleeping Apps
I like this feature the most because with massive storage, I don’t delete the apps that are no use for me, at the same time, these apps consume the power of the device. However, when you see any app in the list of sleeping apps, know that it will work partially, compromising few functions. Check the list and remove the apps.
- Go to the Settings
- Tap Device care.
- Select Battery.
- Hit App power management.
- Open the Sleeping apps
Force Restart the Device
Force rebooting the Samsung Note 20 is equivalent to removing the battery from the device and reinserting it. Though the battery is non-removable, we will do force restart.
- Press and hold the Volume down button and Power button until the Samsung logo appears.
Make Sure Notifications are Enabled
If Notifications aren’t working on Samsung for a specific app, then you must check the in-app settings on your device. You can control whether to receive the Notifications for an app or not.
- Open the Settings app.
- Swipe down and tap Apps.
- Find the app that isn’t sending notifications, and tap on it.
- Under App Settings, tap Notifications.
- Toggle Off Show notifications.
