Remove All the Accessories

Remove the case and let the device stay open for a while so that all the heat will pass out of the device and the iPhone will cool down.

Avoid Using iPhone While Charging

The majority of anxious users use their iPhones while charging, which directly affects the battery life and hence battery lifespan. Even experts recommend not to use any mobile phone while charging it, which is also for iPhones.

Let the iPhone charge peacefully; later on, you can use it. At the same time, don’t play heavy games or use apps for too long; give your iPhone a break and see how smoothly it will respond.

Use Compatible Charger

Another important aspect that could be a reason why iPhone 14 Pro suddenly overheats and shuts off is the use of an incompatible charger. Out of the box, Apple doesn’t provide the Power Adapter. However, you must have received a charging cable.

Use Wireless Charger

Turn Off the iPhone and Connect Charger

To Update iOS:

Updating iPhone automatically updates the first-party Apple applications like Messages App, Stocks App, Music Apps, etc. However, the other apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, etc. need to be updated manually.

  1. Navigate to the Settings app.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select Software Update.

To Update Apps:

  1. Navigate to the App Store.
  2. Tap on your profile in top-right corner.
  3. Scroll down to the apps and update wherever update is pending.

Turn Off Background App Refresh

iPhone sends push notifications when you receive any WhatsApp or Instagram message because background app refresh is enabled for those apps. Background App Fresh constantly looks for an update eating up the battery and internet.

Disable Background App Refresh on iPhone 14 for some time and observe if iPhone 14 Pro screen overheating is resolved or not.

  1. Navigate to the Settings app.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select Background App Refresh and disable it.

Turn Off Raise to Wake

Does your iPhone wake up randomly or for no reason? Raise to Wake feature comes with a lot of ease of use, but at the same time, it consumes a lot of battery in the background. Disable the raise to wake on iPhone to prevent overheating and battery drain.

  1. Navigate to the Settings app.
  2. Select Display & Brightness.
  3. Locate and turn off Raise to Wake.

Reset All Settings

Did you make any recent changes to iPhone Settings or downloaded any third-party applications from App Store or an untrusted source? If yes, then this could be happening due to apps tweaking settings without your concern. To ensure everything is on the right path, reset all settings. Doing this will restore settings to default settings like Wi-Fi, APN, VPN, and Bluetooth, without affecting personal data like Photos, Videos, Documents, or any personal data.

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select Transfer or Reset iPhone and tap Reset.
  4. Select Reset All Settings.

Remove Lock Screen Widgets

Are you using Widgets on your iPhone? With newer iOS Updates, Apple’s Widget has gone to the next level; widget support has been extended to many apps that you might be using in your daily routine, like Weather App, Health App, and more. For some time, avoid using Widgets, especially Lock Screen Widgets to save battery and prevent overheating.

  1. Touch and hold anywhere on iPhone Lock Screen.
  2. Select Customize at the bottom to enable Edit mode.
  3. Tap on minus (-) on the Widget to remove it from Lock Screen.

Disable Location Services

Location Services on iPhone is being used by many applications like WhatsApp, Instagram, Maps, Banking Apps, Payment Apps, Grocery Apps, Shopping Apps, and many more to access your location. These many apps access the Location Services in the background, eating up the processor and overheating the system.

We’d suggest disabling the Location Services for the time being.

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Find and tap on Location Services, and disable it.

Avoid Using iOS Beta

Usually, we get excited to use newly introduced features, and initially, Apple rolls out beta versions for testing and lets the developers and users use and report any faults for improvement. Therefore, if you’re a business or job professional who don’t get time for such things, don’t enroll iPhone in beta. Otherwise, it will mess up the iPhone with multiple bugs.

DFU Restore iPhone

Last but not least, DFU Restore iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max is the ultimate option. With DFU Restore mode you get two options, Restore or Update; select Update at first, if this doesn’t resolve the problem, select Restore.

  1. Backup the iPhone before proceeding to the steps: Settings app > tap on your name > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now.
  2. Connect your iPhone to Mac or Windows using a Lightning cable.
  3. Select Trust on your iPhone screen to allow the connection to your computer, then open Finder in macOS Catalina or later or iTunes for Windows/macOS Mojave or earlier.
  4. Press and quickly release the volume up button
  5. Press and quickly release the volume down button
  6. Press and hold the side button for 10 seconds
  7. Continue to holding the side button, and press and hold the volume down button for 5 seconds
  8. Let go of the side button and continue holding the volume down button for more 10 seconds
  9. Your iPhone display will remain black. If the Apple logo appears, you did not perform the process correctly. Repeat the steps.
  10. Follow the prompts on your computer to complete the device firmware update
  11. You can exit DFU mode by performing a force restart.

Remove the iPhone case and make sure to place the iPhone in-room environment but not a heated place. At the same time, don’t use your iPhone while charging.
