GPS Not Working on Samsung S22 Ultra

Alter GPS Settings

In the Settings app, GPS has multiple Location settings that need to be correctly set as per your preference. Furthermore, Location settings can be controlled at the application level. You should take a look first before drilling down to any troubleshooting tricks.

  1. Go to Settings app in your phone.
  2. Tap Location.
  3. Ensure Location is enabled.
  4. Tap Improve accuracy.
  5. Toggle Wi-Fi Scanning and Bluetooth Scanning to get accurate results.

Location Not Working of Particular App?

Are you facing GPS Issues with any particular app? Like WhatsApp, Instagram or Maps? If yes, then you should the internal settings of that particular app for which Location is not working. We do have control to allow/not allow/allow while using the app the Location for all apps. It’s not like that when GPS is enabled, all the applications can access it, if you don’t want a particular app to access a location, disable it for that particular app, as simple as that.  

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Search that particular app for which location is not working.
  3. Tap Permissions.
  4. Select Location.
  5. Choose desired option.

Force Reboot

If you’re a tech freak, I presume, you already have restarted the phone several times. But that simple reboot won’t work. We’ll show you quick ways to force restart the phone.

  1. Press and hold Volume Down button and Power button until Samsung logo appears.
  2. Wait for system to load up completely.

Enable and Disable Airplane Mode

Seems irrelevant, but trust me sometimes Airplane mode eliminates minor network-related issues, including GPS problems. Quickly enable Airplane Mode from the Notification pane, keep it on for a minute and then disable Airplane mode. Also, you can go reboot the phone referring to the above steps, after toggling Airplane mode.

Remove Phone Case

Does your Samsung S22 Ultra, S22, S22 Plus case have any metallic element embedded? Often, phone cases hinder the GPS functionality of the system, which sounds illogical, but yes, it’s a fact. Therefore, I’d advise you to remove the phone case or any accessory which could cause the phone to malfunction, especially feature like GPS. 

Disable Power Saving Mode

With Power Saving Mode On, a certain set of programs and apps stops working just to provide you last juice of battery when you’re out of home or away from the power plug. It may be very difficult to save battery while using advanced features like GPS, therefore, make sure to disable Power Saving Mode before using GPS. Pull down the Notification pane, and look for Power Saving Mode. Disable Power Saving Mode.

Clear Cache and Data

This isn’t GPS specific solution, but we can clear the cache and data of the app on which GPS is not working like Google Maps or any other app. Cache and app data fasten up the performance and make the apps responsive. At the same time, this cache could resist and stop apps from working correctly.

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Search for the app of which you want to clear cache.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. Select Clear cache.

Try Safe Mode

It’s about time to use the phone in Safe mode. And Safe Mode won’t let you use any other third-party app or program. But the plus point is you will get a clear view of what is happening due to third-party applications.

  1. Press and hold Power button until you see Power menu.
  2. Touch and hold Power Off button and select Safe mode.

Check for Updates

Last but not the least, firmware problems can be expelled by updating the software. The reason why you should always keep the phone up to date is this type of problem won’t come your way.

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Search Software update.
  3. Tap Download and install.
