How to Use Smart Widgets on Samsung Tab S9 (Plus), S8 (Plus)

With One UI 4.1 and Samsung Tab S8 Series/Samsung S22 or later, Samsung released an amazing feature called Smart Widgets. Samsung’s Smart Widgets is a real space saver, it allows you to add up to 7 widgets in one place without spreading over the home screen. Simply choose up to 7 app widgets of the same size, and swipe left or right to navigate between widgets. That way, you can access multiple widgets from the home screen without cluttering the home screen. How to Add Smart Widget on Samsung Tab S9, S9 Plus, S8, S8 Plus

Note: The below steps are applicable for Samsung S22 or later devices which are on One UI 4.1 or later.

Adding Smart Widgets to the Home Screen is a bit easy; however, go with the steps for seamless setup.

Note: If you’re setting up Smart Widgets on Samsung Tab S8, or S8 Plus, make sure to update to the latest software available. Go to the Settings app > Software update > Download and install > Update.

  1. Press and hold anywhere on the empty home screen.
  2. Select Widgets.
  3. Tap on the down arrow icon of Smart Widgets.
  4. You should see different tile options: 2×2, 4×1, and 4×2 Widgets.
  5. Select any one option, and tap Add.

This will bring the Smart Widget on the home screen, with default widgets like Notes, Weather, etc. The system might suggest widgets that better suit your needs and requirements.

How to Customize Smart Widgets on Samsung Tab S9, S9 Plus, S8, S8 Plus

To certain levels, you can customize the Smart Widgets, and trust me, you should definitely discover the Smart Widgets Customizing options for better results. Here’s how to customize the widgets on the Samsung Tab.

  1. Touch and hold the Smart Widget until you see options.
  2. Change Theme: Tap on Current widget settings to change the Black or White or increase/decrease the transparency of widgets.
  3. Add Widget: Tap on Add widget, explore the list of widgets available and add it to the home screen.
  4. Remove Widget: Tap on Remove widget to remove the widget from the home screen.
  5. Auto Rotate Widgets: This feature will show you the most relevant widget on the screen, depending on your requirements.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to add the Gmail Widget because it is 3×3, and Smart Widget currently doesn’t support 3×3 size.
